Mesenchymal Stem Cell Research

Research Focus

Adult mesenchymal stem cells are located in every organ and tissue in the body and circulate in the blood. Often considered the rescue cell in that they are attracted to damaged cells, sites of injury and infection, and altered cellular environments. When they encounter abnormalities, they deliver peptides to the damaged area, attracting inflammatory cells while contributing directly to healing by inducing local cells to differentiate into whatever cell is required.

Our research focuses on cultured media development as well as defining what cellular factors are present when differentiation occurs.
